History
Before 1997, there were no catholic English medium schools in kinnigoli. Hence the need was strongly felt by the people of this locality as there wasn’t a good school around and their children had to travel to distant places. It was only a dream for a few years. This dream was represented to the Management of Bethany Educational Society by the then PTA members of little flower High School who approached personally the President and the secretary of Bethany Educational Society. Though the Bethany Educational Society had decided not to open any English Medium Schools in Dakshina Kannada, accepted the desire and dream of the people of Kinnigoli. Thus, it became a reality in June 1997 under the able leadership of Sr Christella BS, the Provincial Superior of Mangalore Province. Maryvale School saw the light of the day with two classes Upper KG and Std 1 with just 59 students and Sr. Electa as the Headmistress. In 1988 Sr Jessy Leena was appointed as Headmistress who ventured with faith and dedication to face difficult situations and conquered all hurdles to make this school grow up firmly, later grew up as a High School in June 2006 under the patronage of Mary, Mother of God. Sr Roselyta BS was appointed as the first Headmistress, she was known for her dedication, commitment and motherly heart.
Maryvale English Medium school from its very beginning rendered its noble service in the field of education and over the years it has grown. Our aim is to provide quality education, to train our young minds for better tomorrow. We train in them the values, to be persons who are thoughtful of others, promoters of peace, unity, equality and love. They excel in curricular and co-curricular activities and move up to State level in different events.
At present the school from Pre KG to Class 10th standard is headed by Sr Shanthi Flavia Menezes as the headmistress and Sr Dona BS as the Correspondent. They work hard for all round development of the school.
The strength of the school is 579 from Pre KG to 10th standard and we have 23 teaching and 7 non-teaching staff who work tirelessly for the betterment of the students. Children are active in curricular and co-curricular activities like dance, Karate, Chess, Badminton, Volleyball, Throwball and Kabaddi.
Ample opportunities are given to the students to grow spiritually, physically, mentally and psychologically. Faith and character formation together with academic excellence are given priority. It is marvellous to note that the school secured 100% result in SSLC examinations. Various activities are conducted to motivate the children, value based skits are presented to institute them the good values.
We have supportive Parents Teachers Association under the able leadership of Mrs Veera Vas as Vice President.
Through the constant support of the Management, Staff, PTA, Alumni, Maryvale stands high. Long live our Maryvale School!
